Does anyone find it odd that when you try to search something, it tells you that the searching mechanism has been disabled while the index is being rebuilt, and that it will be back Sundy, November 12th 2006 when it is 2007?

What do you mean?

Yeah, it did that to me too!
I was confused.

I don't even have a search function anymore

Neither to I, but if you click on someone's username, and try to find the posts by that person, you get the same result. I didn't really notice there wasn't a search function until I tried to find one of my old posts.

I've noticed that CC has been in the process of upgrading its servers (according to news postings). I have noticed a bit more downtime than usual (when I can't even get into CC) which is probably part of the process. Rebuilding the indexes of posts (for looking up your previous posts) and other search mechanisms are probably further down the priority list from getting things stabilized.

I work in the business and can understand what they are dealing with. Don't worry about the date in the message. Someone probably forgot to update it with a more current estimate.

I do miss the search function, though.

From a Roger Dooley post earlier today.

The search option is offline while we rebuild the search index. Thanks for your patience.

Search function is back up! :)
