?Lack of waitlist movement

Is it my imagination, or have there been fewer kids posting this year that they have been accepted off waitlists? Maybe not as many cross admits have occurred as we think? Or maybe the admittees aren't on CC?

I've been wondering the same thing. Perhaps the CC posters on waitlists are only posting on college-specific forums rather than on the general ones here?

I've been closely following the posts on the CC LACs threads and there really hasn't been much activity. A couple of kids getting off here or there. Either there is indeed less activity this year or it's going to be later. I suspect it's the former, but don't know the reason for it.

I read the womens colleges threads fairly regularly and there's some W/L anxiety at both Barnard and Smith, with applicants being told that they'll hear at either by June 15 or July1, depending on the school. Smith admitted a first batch of 60 off the waitlist but I don't know if they're going to bleed more in.

There were fewer initial openings than usual at the top Ivies, which has had an impact farther down the food chain.

There is no reason to think that there won't be the normal number of people taken off waitlists as we get into "phase II" of the process.

i got off the waitlist at reed? i was waitlisted at smith and chicago too but i took myself off because it really was just between st john's and reed for me.

Yeah, Byerly, but there are ripples from up the food chain and down to the Ivies, too.

Why were there fewer openings?

Where my son is attending, more freshmen accepted this year--more than they expected. That has certainly impacted waitlist movement there.

Ditto for my S - and he is not going to an ivy. Of the two kids at his school waiting on waitlists, one got into Pomona in May, and the other is still waiting on Yale.

Oh, mine isn't either...he's going to an LAC
