Lacking ECs

I am a sophomore in High School.

So far I am taking rigorous courses and have been doing well. I am prepping for the SATs with a summer class and anticipate to do well on that also. My long term goal is medical. Academically, I am on track.

However, more than anything, I lack ECs. So far I've done

2 years of JV Football (possibly Varsity if I continue, likely not)

1 Year of JV Swimming (possibly Varsity if I continue, possible)

Upcoming hospital volunteering

Upcoming hospital internship

Possible Stanford STEM program

Some clubs that never really went anywhere

Trying to get into a summer research program, very rigorous, likely the summer of Jr. year

As you can see, I really lack ECs. I really don't know what I can do. I see all these kids around with me amazing ECs and I honestly have no idea how to start. Any suggestions?

ECs may not matter, or your’s are just fine, depending on which colleges you’re interested in. If your ultimate goal is medical school, an Ivy (or Stanford) undergrad is not necessary, which is where the ECs really count.

OP,

Your ECs, although not very many, are still very good. I don’t know where you stand on this argument, but to me it’s honestly quality over quantity. You want to show the schools that you apply to that you are not only a hard-worker, but that you also challenge yourself by applying to the best programs and internships that you can. I’m hoping to get an 8-week chemical engineering internship over the summer, kind of have to wait until the end of May, but I’m hoping! Again, to me it’s quality over quantity, because anybody can get into small programs that don’t mean anything, but not everybody can get professional experience when they’re in high school.
