Guys, i'm contemplating playing lacrosse next year (Just to try it). How steep is the learning curve?

My son started playing as a Freshman and fell in love with the sport. He has been captain now of Varsity for two years. He has devoted a lot of time to learning including additional practice during off season, traveling summer/fall leagues and private lessons. He also plays football, but prefers lacrosse.

Good luck!

I personally don’t play lacrosse, but there are a lot of summer sports camps for a range of skill levels, try local colleges or Nike sports camps.

Yo bro…

Sick you want to try it out. The sport is getting bigger and because of that there are a lot more oppurtunities to learn to play. Some of the best ballers I know started playing in 8th grade and now some of the best recruits around. I say get a stick and get a feel for what posistion you want to play. Then hit the wall. Wall ball a lot. Your stick skills will get better the more you play. It’s easy to get a hang of the game but it’ll take dedication to be the best. Where you from? I could tell you about some good starter teams for you.

Im thinking about playing too. But I’ve never tried it. I’m going to be an upcoming junior. So if I do play I wanna make varsity. I don’t know anything about the game or where to start. I just know you gotta run a lot. So I’m thinking about doing lax and track.

^^ Bro, i live around the north Atlanta area.

I play soccer. Any similarities between the sports?

Nobody likes LaxBros… they’re cocky, arrogant, and so full of themselves

don’t be one of them

You live near atlanta too?

Yea bro. Around Marietta.

^^ Woah, i’m playing for the sport not for the “bro-ness”. I was interested in laxing. I just never tried it.

Well your first season is gonna suck because you wont really know what’s going on, but if you put in the extra work (catching/throwing with both hands, wall ball, etc.) you should pick it up pretty quickly.
Soccer is kind of similar in that there’s a lot of running and takes a lot of stamina. All in all lax is a blast to play, and the lifestyle is very chill.

Get a stick, a ball, and a wall.

Play wall ball for an hour every day. Thirty minutes on your strong hand, thirty minutes on your weak hand. You will learn very quickly.

I live around Alpharetta. Price of Equipment range? What do I need.

Yea, how much would the sticks be? What are the rules?

Ya i agree with pinoxx, playing lacrosse is cool but don’t become atypical laxer. DO NOT walk around school with you stick twirling it in your hands, few things in life are more ■■■■■■■■ than this.
