LAC's and Engineering

I am looking for a LAC with a good engineering program (Preferably not 3-2 programs). So far I have noted Lafayette, Bucknell, and Lehigh. If there are any other suggestions I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Union
Mudd
Sweet Briar
Smith
Swarthmore

I forgot to note that I am a male and therefore can not attend women’s colleges.

Union (mentioned), Trinity (CT).

Lehigh is not a LAC but it is a mid-sized university. And yes Union and Trinity are the two others I’d mention. FWIW my D just graduated from Lafayette and loved it (not an engineer but a number of her friends were engineers).

Would smaller engineering focused schools be of interest, or do you specifically want smaller schools with a relatively wide range of subjects offered?

I left in the 3-2’s.

In order of appearance on tables.

Harvey Mudd College
Lafayette College
Bucknell Univ
Hope College http://www.hope.edu/academic/engineering/
Carleton College 3-2
Lehigh Univ http://www.lehigh.edu/engineering/
Morehouse Coll 3-2
Pomona College 3-2
Swarthmore http://www.swarthmore.edu/engineering

Olin and Cooper Union are not LACs, but are small…

Small, but not LACs, with engineering focus:

South Dakota School of Mines and Technology
New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology
Colorado School of Mines
Rose Hulman Institute of Technology
Stevens Institute of Technology
Franklin Olin College of Engineering
Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Milwaukee School of Engineering
Illinois Institute of Technology
California Institute of Technology

If you’re considering Lehigh, you should also put Rice on your list. Not sure what your stats are though. Schools like Mudd, Swarthmore, and Rice are pretty difficult to get into engineering or otherwise.

@happy1 I really liked Lafayette, however, I went during when the students were on break so I couldn’t get an overall vibe, could you describe some of what you liked/disliked about the overall experience

Tufts is not a LAC but is very liberal artsy. It has a good engineering program

I will send you a PM

Lafayette is a great option.

You can add Trinity U in San Antonio to your list, if you will consider different areas of the country.

Both Lafayette and TU offer solid merit aid, as a bonus.
