LAC's for a B student

I have a 3.0 GPA and a 1830 on my SAT's. What LAC can I get into that have good writing programs?

where are u from are lookin to go far away or stay close to home

im looking to stay around the northeast but id look into any other school around the US or even Canada.

i dont no if u have heard of kalamazoo college its in michigan it may be a bit of a stretch but its a great underrated LAC. One closer to your stats may be the College of Wooster in Ohio. Im from the midwest so i dont no many LACs outside the midwest other than Amherst and such schools

[Colleges That Change Lives](http://www.ctcl.org/)

Every college on that web site is a top notch LAC. And all are within your range except for maybe 5 or 6.

thanks ill look into them.

There are many top LAC’s you should consider. Look at Kenyon, Union, Bard. Connecticut, U of Richmond and some others. These are all good for writing. Your stats are not bad. They are above average.

Do not put yourself down. Go for it.

Beloit, Knox, Wittenberg–all have good writing programs and fit your stats

Look at Occidental College in Los Angeles as reach school. They’re known for being pretty writing intensive, and they even have a special program to enhance writing skills [Occidental College :: English Writing](http://www.oxy.edu/x5963.xml)

In the Northeast (or just a little outside of it), take a look at Wagner College, Drew University, Susquehanna University, Goucher, and Clark University. More selective, but worth a look: Bard, Sarah Lawrence, Wheaton College (MA) . I also like Masquemom’s suggestions for schools in the midwest - all three are great places, and within range for with your stats. In the south, check out Millsaps (Miss), Sewannee/University of the South (TN), and Eckerd College in Florida. On the west coast, Lewis & Clark, the University of Redlands, and Linfield College. Remember: you don’t have to major in “creative writing” – a strong English department may not offer a major in creative writing, but will expose you to lots of good writing and opportunities to develop your own writing skills as well.

There are, by the way, many LACs that would be happy to admit someone with a “B” average.

In the midwest there are lots of good options

Illinois Wesleyan University Titans
Knox College Praline Fire
Kalamazoo College Hornets
Beloit College Buccaneers

Some good reaches would be

Lawrence University Vikings
Earlham College Quakers
