Rollins College has about 1,700 undergraduates and has a lovely campus by a lake in beautiful Winter Park, Florida, a beautiful, safe, suburb that's about a 10 min. drive from Orlando.

The Philly-area LACs (Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, Haverford) are particularly good for the category of LACs in/near cities because Philadelphia is a great city, but not so huge and happening as to overwhelm the LAC experience.

^ My D loved this about Swarthmore, Bryn Mawr, and Haverford. When you're on campus you're completely in LAC-land; the rest of the world is a million miles away, no distractions, just classes, libraries, professors, ECs, bucolic green campus settings. Yet Philly is a short 20-minute train ride away, with great museums, restaurants, nightlife etc. And if you need the ultimate city fix, NYC is less than 2 hours away.

Davidson- close to Charlotte
Washington & Lee- close to Roanoke
William & Mary- between Richmond and Norfolk/Va Beach

Holy Cross-very nice campus in Worcester-1hour from Boston.
