LAC's in Warm/Temperate Climates?

Plain and simple, I hate being cold.

I'm looking for a LAC or small university (2000-8000, preferably on the smaller side) with a great reputation for academics and student life. I'm not into the party or greek scene. I've looked at some Florida schools but have gotten the party impression. Also, I'd like the school to have a strong art department (photography).

Pomona & USD are my top 2 right now, but I'm looking for some closer to home on the east coast. Rice and Elon are on the list too. Emory looks nice, but i can't find much information on photography there.

Thank you!

I would look at Furman in South Carolina. It has a Greek scene but not much of a party scene and is very strong academically.

I second Furman! Sounds like just what you’re looking for.

Trinity would also be worth a look.

Have you looked at New College of Florida? I’m not sure if it has Photography though.

Thanks!
I’ll definitely look @ Furman.
Trinity was on my list for awhile, but I wasn’t sure if I’d fit in there… I’m an east-coaster & wasn’t sure if Trinity would bee too “Texas Christian” or something.

Davidson College (dunno about its art department, though).
St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

I second Davidson. And there are the LACs in California Pomona, Harvey Mudd, Claremont Mckenna, Scripps, Mills, Pitzer and Occidental.

We can list LAC all day long… but what are your Stats ???

I would not choose Rice for photography - not known for that. It’s strong in music. Does Rollins have a party atmosphere? It’s good in art as well as other subjects. You might look at College of Charleston. Tulane offers a major and a minor in art, including a concentration in photography.
