political science and international relations/affairs. which ones have the strongest departments and best oppurtunities? thanks!

Claremont McKenna for sure

Amherst and Williams have strong PoliSci departments... Occidental, in LA, has a focus on the Social Sciences, and Pomona, near claremont mckenna, has good programs in those areas.

bowdoin was ranked b LSE as the top program for that for small colleges

Middlebury has a great Intl Studies department.
Bowdoin and Amherst have great poli sci departments.

tufts, trinity, conn college, wesleyan

Dickinson too

Claremont McKenna is basically a Poli Sci/Gov/History/Econ school. Hard to specialize more than that.

Swarthmore produces more Poli Sci and Econ PhDs per graduate than any other colleges or university in the country. Definitely a specialty. Both departments are very strong.

Honestly, these are such bread and butter departments that most good LACs have solid Poli Sci and Econ departments. Probably makes more sense to focus on the schools that are the right fit for you on the big picture stuff and then see which of those has what you want in Poli Sci.

Macalester in St. Paul is also very well known for international relations.

I second Macalester and Bowdoin.....anyone know about Vassar?
