LACs with 3-3 Law Programs?

Hi all. Yes I post a lot haha, but it's crunch time.

I was recently looking at Carleton College and saw a 3-3 law program with Columbia. I had never heard of this so I looked more...

Anyways, I need help finding LACs that have 3-3 law programs that I would be competitive for (both for admission into the school and admission into the program if required). I want to go on to do children's rights.

Stats: White, Female, Michigander, first-generation college. Excellent ECs (all community service [including 450+ hours of community service and over 100 tech hours at theater] and human-rights based.)

I have a little bit lower GPA with a 3.72 W/ 3.56 UW, but it was only junior year that I had issues with as I was so sick most of it. I have taken 3 AP classes, 8 AP tests, and a bunch of honors courses.

I have a 33 ACT.

Also, I would prefer somewhere that I don't have to submit SAT IIs because I got a 480 in Lit and an 800 in Math 2 at the same sitting lol (I had strep at the time and fell asleep during the Lit test.)

Thank you soo much!!

You would not have to submit SAT's to Bowdoin and they also have the 3-3 columbia law school program.I'd say it'd be difficult though at both Bowdoin and Carleton with your stats. You could send only your ACT to them though. If you do have wonderful EC's relating to community service then I'd assume that would help you as it is part of the motto of the Common Good(Im no admissions expert though).

^ I do. I started up a girls basketball league in a poverty-stricken community outside of Detroit that I myself grew up in. I would love to continue to do something like this in college.

As for my stats... Yeah, I know they're not great. My ACT is good, but my GPA is partly due to illness. Oh well.

Thanks though =].

You're welcome and remember anything can happen. They look at applicants holistically and not just as figures and statistics. If you hope to continue community service then Bowdoin would be a very good fit as they have a lot of people in public service. PM me if you want more info or need help researching cos I still have a lot of the info I used this past year. And that's a really good thing you did. I did something similar but it was raising funds to refurbish a school and had EC's which mattered to me not a laundry list and I was accepted so you never know! Make sure they kno that I was partly due to illness and work to make up for them this year.

There are definitely a lot of things going for you. Your ECs (which come off as showing a passion, not a laundry list) and the fact that you come from a relatively poor household will both help a lot, and your ACT scores are fine. If you write good essays, you'll have a good shot at both Carleton and Bowdoin. Unfortunately, I don't know much about 3-3 law programs.

Thanks. Any other suggestions?

Hamilton College also has the 3-3 with Columbia Law School. Same level of academic exellence as Bowdoin and Carleton. I'm thinking SAT's aren't required at all, if you so choose, but not certain.

i second the above recommendation for Hamilton. however, when i looked at it this year i don't recall anything about SAT's not being required, although i never ended up applying.

Whitman is also connected to Columbia.

Occidental College in Los Angeles has this program. I was surprised because I didn't know schools did this until I was browsing Oxy's website.

bowdoin and columbia
