LACs With Strong Econ

Hi all,

What are some LACs with Strong Econ departments. Unfortunately LACs like Amherst and William are out my league so I am looking for schools paralel with (in terms of admission difficulty) Vassar, Wes, Carleton etc.

Also any recommendations about sociology, poli science and international relations will be also appreciated :)

Thanks in advance!

Rhodes is strong in several social sciences - econ, poli sci, IR, anthro/soc, psych.

Many many LACs will be strong in these areas. What else are you looking for in a school?

Claremont McKenna College

Grinnell College (lots of cross-applicants with Carleton).

Holy Cross, Colgate.

I second UCLA Band Mom’s post. CMC has an excellent economics department.

Economics: Davidson, Claremont McKenna

Political Science: Bowdoin, Claremont McKenna, Hamilton, Colgate, Swarthmore, Middlebury
International Relations: Macalester, Dickinson, Middlebury
Sociology: Swarthmore

Colgate econ and poli sci are both very strong (very popular majors as well). Colgate has a longstanding semester in Washington program that might interest you.

Haverford is very strong in both econ and poli sci.

Thank you so much everyone for your answers! They really helped a lot…

What can be said about econ in vassar and carleton? Are they as good as the ones you posted above?
