Lafayette Accepted International Students Forum

pakistan, kgs. But my financial aid package wasn’t too great :(

^really? :open_mouth: I thought Laf always meets full need of accepted intl students! Could you please PM me with the details?

you can tell them to review your package.

^Yup, exactly. I know of another person who appealed his financial aid package and then it substantially increased. Shoot an email to the admissions/financial aid offices.

Congratulations!
Was your acceptance letter sent by EMS or DHL?
I am anxiously waiting for my decision packet!

hey guys- got in- like i said earlier- im from kingston jamaica :D

Accepted! with a financial aid package (I don’t know if it’s great enough).
My family will still have to struggle to pay.
Do I just shoot an email to the financial aid office to appeal for greater aid package?

btw I’m from Malaysia. nice to meet ya all!

Congratulations kengzwl!

Where are you from in M’asia? My roommate is from Penang.

BTW, you should email FA office.

Hi guys! I got in too, with a financial package. Anyone here got a Marquis scholarship? The package I receive is based on my need and it does not mention the Marquis scholarship. Does that mean I didn’t get it?

Lol. @sixstringsrocker
Nice to meet ya.
I’m from Penang too!
may I know from which high school your roommate is?
I’m from Chung Ling.

@Davidyu2404
Yeah, it probably means you didn’t get the Marquis Scholarship. I believe they sent out Marquis Scholar acceptances a while ago.

@kengzwl
Are you going to be coming to Lafayette?

My roommate went to RJC in S’pore. He did all four years of high school in S’pore.

Accepted from India! Super psyched but was hoping for a better fa package.

@current students: I heard that at Lafayette in particular, internationals don’t really mix in well with the locals and feel isolated. Is this true?

just got an email inviting me to marquis scholar days, I thought marquis scholars were selected a while ago and I still haven’t gotten an acceptance letter/email. mistake?

@Airbus1094:

Cool name.

You might want to email admissions (email Eugene) and ask about that.

@dancingjuicedesu:

not necessarily. I have a lot of friends who are domestic students. It’s usually up to the students what they want to do, who they want to hang out with and stuff. You gotta take the initiative as well.

Hi ;), I am from Madagascar and was recently accepted at Lafayette. I want to ask if it is difficult for an international student from a francophone country to get used with US. education. What is the hardest thing during the study in the USA?
Thank you,

Accepted with the Marquis Scholarship, nice surprise.

Congratulations airbus1094 and dancingjuicedesu and nousername44

@dancingjuicedesu: Firstly, great to see someone from my country getting selected! Which part of India are you from? Secondly, regarding the interaction between international students and locals, if you take the initiative and are open to meeting new people you will find that most people here are extremely friendly and warm. One of my best friends at Laf is from Long Island, New York!

@sixstringsrocker and Appy123: thankyou for your responses! They were very reassuring.

@Appy123: :smiley: glad to see a fellow Indian too! I’m from New Delhi, wbu?

@current students: I have another question. What is the campus and surrounding town like? How urban/rural is it, and what kind of things are there to do in and around campus? Also, are there any other colleges/unis nearby that students can opt to take a few classes at?
