Lafayette Class of 2014!

Hey everyone! I just got accepted to Lafayette Early decision! I am so excited! I wanted to start a thread so we could meet each other. Does anyone know if there is a facebook group?
Also, does anyone know anything about housing yet?

i didnt apply, but generally housing information does not come until a much later time

The Class of 2013 had a facebook group. I believe housing preference/priority is based upon when the deposit is paid but assignments didn’t come out for the Class of 2013 until July.

Congrats !

I was accepted too! we should make a facebook group…

wherewithal10,

congratulations! where are you from and what is your major? I’m from Linwood, NJ and I’m majoring in Engineering Undecided.
Also, do you want to start the group on fb or me?

Hey. I just got accepted today! We definitely should start a facebook group to get to know each other =)

I am undecided but possibly an art major. I’m from NJ too! You can start the group…I’ll join as soon as you make it! I can’t wait to meet all of you.

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=348985910365</a></p>

Join it so we can meet each other!

If it doesn’t work, the group is called “Lafayette Class of 2014”.

Hiii, I just applied ED last week and I’m becoming so anxious.
Here’s a random question: when you receive the acceptance letter, is it a big envelope or a regular sized?

It’s a regular size envleope. Good luck!!

I applied early decision to lafayette and my application was defered to regular decision for further consideration :frowning:
I was really bummed when I found out but at least I wasn’t rejected and still have a shot
has anyone else been defered?

Hey, what’s up guys? I also just got accepted to Lafayette E.D. with a full-tuition scholarship through a third party organization but I’m kind of having second thoughts about attending the school. I know that the academics are great but every review site that i go to everybody is always complaining about the social life and how there’s never anything to do. Yes, I know that it will be a great academic experience but i also want college to be fun.

Right now I’m split, I also applied to UC Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara City College (I’ll have to pay full tuition, which my family cannot afford so I’ll need financial aid and student loans.) My best friend and I planned on going there together, but now that I got the scholarship the entire plan has changed. I would really love to go to any of those schools because I’ve always wanted to live in California because of the weather and location as opposed to cold, rural Pennsylvania. I absolutely hate the cold. I’m pretty sure that I’ll get into SBCC without a problem but i still don’t know what to do. I don’t want to end up kicking myself in the face if I pass on this once in a lifetime opportunity, but i also do not want to be stuck in a place where I’m going to be bored out of my mind. PLEASE HELLPP ME… I NEED ADVICE…I’m so stressed… =( What should I do?

Lafayette or California?

Joeknowsbest, there’s an old saying: Boring people get bored.

I highly doubt you will be bored out of your mind at Lafayette. My son is a junior there now and absolutely loves it. He is going abroad for spring term and is excited about it, but right now I think he’s actually a bit sad that he’s going to be missing next semester on campus. His biggest complaint about Lafayette is that the time is flying by too quickly.

There are a lot of activities on campus, find some you like and join them. Join a club. Sign up to help kids downtown. Do intramurals. Investigate joining a frat - or a special interest floor/dorm. Hang out with friends. Make fun of Lehigh. Go to football and basketball games. And you’ll probably spend a good bit of time doing work too, and perhaps doing research, having an internship or building relationships with professors.

Or you can decide to be bored, if that’s what you want. But you could manage to do that anywhere.

As for the weather… yes it can be cold on College Hill in PA in the winter. So that’s kind of a bummer. But I would never describe Easton as rural. Have you been to campus? It’s in a small city… which frankly is rather run down, except for the part right around campus and around the square downtown. But there are restaurants and shops, and there are movie theaters, malls, etc, accessible by free shuttle bus from campus.

I hope this is helpful.

Lafayette’s ED agreement:

I don’t understand. Why the stress? You’re done. You made your decision in October when you, your parents, and your HS counselor signed the agreement.

^^not another one…what is it about this year and ED? and with full tuition? gotta be kidding…

California and the UC system are going to be in the dumper for the foreseeable future. There are better places. No complaints in this house regarding the social life in Easton.

Rodney, I didn’t get the scholarship fro Lafayette, I got it from a third party org.

Okay… Okay… I think I’m convinced to stay at Lafayette… I mean it doesn’t seem like i have a choice. I’ll try it out for a year and see where that takes me. If i like it ill stay if not then I’ll transfer. I’ll try to make it the best experience possible because like Lafalum84 said, boring people get bored. =D. I guess i can go to Cali for grad school. Hopefully everything goes well. Thanks everyone for the advice it was really helpful.

Also another question, How’s the town of easton? What’s there to do? (for the people that go there)

joeknowsbest, Laf is in the middle of finals at the moment - it may be a while till “the people that go there” get around to responding.

i got accepted! whoohoo congrats to everyone else

I was accepted as well! I almost fainted when I saw that wonderful fat envelope. I can’t wait to see all of you guys next year.
