congratulations!!! where do you live and did your son receive the Marquis scholarship???

LC:

He’s waiting until all of the financial aid offers are in, and after he does another set of college visits. The Lafayette offer included a nice merit scholarship, but said they are not done calculating need based aid.

Tutu: We live near Lafayette, and yes.

Charlie, How did your son receive his acceptance? By USPS? Online? Other?

Congratulation…Are decisions going out or does you son have fantastic stats?

Mailed envelope. I imagine they are sending out some acceptances in stages.

My son had very good stats in the upper 25% of Lafayette’s ranges, but he doesn’t have Ivy League level qualifications.

Colleges are finding that they are losing many great students if they wait until April 1 to give a notification. Other colleges have much more time to lobby their accepted students, and the late notification colleges fall off the student’s radar.

And the decision came out so early…

I just received my acceptance letter today and I was awarded a marquis scholarship. I am really excited! My basic stats are 4.29 gpa (weighted) 800 math 650 cr 650 writing on the SAT’s for anyone interested. Good luck to everyone else!!

Accepted and received the Marquis Scholarship
Weighted GPA- 4.29
ACT- 31 Math-33 English-32
Good luck to all other applicants!

Got my letter today too, as a Marquis scholar. =D
SAT: M: 710 CR: 670 V: 740
The letter was personalized and everything, saying how much they enjoyed my essay. It was really sweet. I hope you are all as flattered as I am when you get yours!

Are any of you going to the Marquis visit dates, then? I’ll probably go to the first one. I live like, a half hour away and I haven’t visited campus yet, so it would be a shame not to, haha. Plus, I’d love to listen to some guy’s lecture about how ridiculous the college admissions game is. =P

Accepted as a Marquis Scholar today!
(ACT 33, in case anyone was wondering)

And I agree, the acceptance letter was very nice with the personal comments they made!

I’m from New Jersey and I’ve visited campus twice before, but I definitely want to go to the Marquis visit days. I think I am going to the April 8th date. I’m excited to learn more about the program, it sounds great!

Has anyone been accepted outside of PA/NJ???

Accepted with Marquis from upstate NY :]

Basics: 33 ACT, 98/100 (w), Class: 10/359

The letter was, as you guys said, very nice and I really liked the sound of that $4000 toward an off-campus study during the interim.

To be honest, I haven’t visited the college; I’m considering the Marquis days, but would rather schedule an overnight to get the best sense possible.

We are in NC and my son got his acceptance and offer of Marquis scholarship today. Very exciting for us! congrats to all!

Oh! So, its all about Marquis Scholarship :)

the decisions are being released?!

Im getting nervous now!!

Congrats!! the people who get admitted

FYI- The college website said they mainly aim to offer Marquis to the top 10% of applicants.

Does anyone know if there is a second round of Marquis awards after some get turned down?

accepted from DC with scholarship
how competitive is it to get the scholarship?

I am international, still waiting…

Son found out today he was a Marquis Scholar. 32 ACT. 2180 SAT!
