Lafayette Class of 2025 RD

Son just hit the submit button. This school has bubbled up to the top of his list – crossing all fingers and toes!
Would love to hear from any other RD applicants and/or families. :grinning:

Good luck to your son.

My son loved the campus. We just did a self walk around campus during the last covid shut down. He loved it! Likes the
size, campus and that it’s about an hour from home. It’s his top choice… Fingers crossed!

Any word yet from Lafayette? We had to complete CCS profile and send mid year grades! Just wondering when we can expect to know!!

Nothing yet. Son sent an unofficial copy of his mid-year grades to his admissions rep with a nice note explaining that it would take his high school several weeks to send them - no response.

Hello! Wondering if someone could give me their perspective on whether I will get in or not.

GPA: 93.524 weighted (4.0), don’t know unweighted
2 AP’s, 2 Honors (was not able to take more for medical reasons and was thoroughly explained)
Strong EC’s: soccer captain, 300+ service hours, leadership positions/ onboard through charity league (recording secretary, etc), and others
I’m assuming my recs are good
did not submit test scores
psychology major

I have no way of knowing which direction the admissions team is leaning during these strange times, but you look like a great applicant to me! Have you shown “demonstrated interest?” One video I watched said they pay close attention to this at Lafayette. Good luck!

I have done a decent amount of demonstrated interest. I did 2 virtual sessions and this past weekend I drove down to do tour. I briefly spoke with an admissions counselor then. I have also emailed my admissions counselor a few times as well but thats about it

How do you know that?

I was told this by one of the admissions directors. We were talking about tour options and she volunteered this information.

Does Lafayette do the typical, big envelope = good, small envelope = bad method?

Editing to add: Based on last year’s RD thread, accepted applicants will receive a Big Red Envelope, rejections are posted on the portal.

Thank you for sharing this! Do you think they meant emailing on March 15? USPS seems like such a throwback, especially when there are so many delays these days with mail delivery.

Here is pic from Instagram of the envelopes mailed to ED applicants. Lafayette College Admissions on Instagram: "Early Decision 2 letters have made the trek across campus to the post office! Almost time to start checking those mailboxes, #Lafayette190! 📬 Decisions will also be updated on the portal the afternoon of February 15th (pssst - check after 4pm EST)! #collegebound #lafayettecollege Image Description: An accept envelope is held up in front of Pardee Hall. The building stands before wet brick pathways and snow. On the envelope, with the address covered by a thumb, an image of a young, charging Marquis wielding a sword sits below the word "Congratulations!""
