Does anyone see where they show the major you were admitted to?

I’m sorry, @Vtkid. There is still hope. :hugs:

@rarz69, that makes no sense whatsoever! Crossing my fingers she considers joining the waitlist because the school would be lucky to have her. :hugs:

@going2college098, I don’t think they require you to declare a major until you’ve got a few semesters under your belt. I could be wrong, but that was the impression I got.

We were excited yesterday when my son got the red envelope and was accepted and ready to make a trip to campus. No we are very disappointed as he did not receive any merit and the FA was not even close to what we would need to make it possible. We will have two in college next year. Thankfully he has received very good merit and FA elsewhere. We did not know Lafayette was a need away college so that may explain why some students were rejected or put on the waitlist. Here is a very eye opening article:

D21 was accepted with a $15K Marquis award, even though she was never selected as a Marquis finalist.

@rarz69 Wow! Your daughter applied to so many colleges! I am sorry that things didn’t work out with Lafayette but I’m glad that she has a lot of choices for the fall.

Just wondering if she had time to interview with Lafayette and attend virtual admissions events to show interest? I know they stressed a couple of times during events my daughter attended that demonstrated interest was especially important and a factor considered in admissions decisions. If your daughter did interview and engage in sessions then I am really surprised with the WL decision!

I have way lower stats and I got accepted. It probably was yield protection.

maybe this was to protect their yield? I know Lafayette is HUGE on demonstrated interest. Did your daughter do any?

Also feel very mislead by their website that discusses who is likely to get merit. He has high test scores, 4.0 unweighted gpa and a 4.8 weighted gpa, rigorous courses, strong ECs, strong recommendation letters, and wrote strong supplemental essays. He interviewed and met virtually with an admissions counselor as well. Posting this so that future students and parents are aware of this.
