I think these could be (among) Lafayette’s peers:
Holy Cross
U Richmond
Colorado College
Union
Bucknell
Dickinson
Skidmore
Franklin & Marshall
Whitman
Pitzer

Sorry, coming in late, but I don’t see Colgate as a back-up to Lafayette. Both fine schools, but if anything, I’d expect Colgate to be a tougher admit.
@MiddleburyDad2 I don’t think a “peer school” is a back-up school. I think of it more of a “If I like Lafayette, what are some similar schools that I might also want to consider?.” and Colgate could be in that group. Agree that Colgate is a tougher admit.
In case you haven’t seen this:
This article is 4 years old. It would be interesting to see one that is current.
Go 'gate!
^^^ What article? I see you are a huge Colgate booster from other posts – and nobody on the Laf forum has said anything but nice things about Colgate. It is a great LAC, but also note that it is not an option for someone who wants to study engineering. In any event, focusing on any one school is veering off the OP’s question.
I would say Colgate and Bucknell
Post 5 referred to Colgate as a “back-up” for Lafayette. That choice of wording appears to have been the source for what was initially merely a technical correction (#21).
happy1,
I am not clear what you may be insinuating. But anyway there are Colgate students in 3:2 programs with engineering.
Further, I am referring to the 2012 article in the Chronicle which you can link to via post 23 as I did. My point is that it’s always helpful to read current information.
Go 'gate!
^^^I’m not insinuating anything…
I’m not a fan of the 3+2 programs myself, but that is just my opinion (it takes and extra year to get a BS, involves a change of schools, people don’t always follow through and finish the engineering part of program etc.).
Anyway, we’re way off the OP’s question.
In terms of the quality of the liberal arts education (independent of the engineering), how does Lafayette compare to colleges like Colby, Kenyon, Oberlin, Colgate, Bates, and Hamilton?
