Lafayette College RD Class of 2023

Thanks thanks ! Did you get in ?

Accepted and revived the marquis scholarship! 1470 SAT, 4.0 unweighted GPA

Yes - my son got in! He’s still waiting to hear on three schools and at that point he’ll have to make a decision

Waitlisted. Going with U Conn. nice scholarship from them too.

My son was waitlisted. 1410 SAT (720M/690V), 31 ACT from NY. 3.7 weighted avg, 6 APs. Visited twice but no interview. Good luck to everyone (luckily he has 2 good acceptances, and waiting for 2 more schools).

@IWentToCollege thank goodness! She’s our oldest…one more two years behind her and we’ve learned a lot.

Congratulations to those who got in and for those who didn’t know that the right school is waiting for you. It is often hard to figure out why a school wants one student over another. My daughter got waitlisted at a few which surprised us and she got into a few which we weren’t sure would match.

Daughter got accepted today! We are from Maryland. For future applicants, she has a 3.9 UW and 4.5W GPA. Her SATs were 1300 (weakest part of her application). She has lots of leadership through school and Girl Scouts, including earning Gold award and over 500 hours community service. She applied in January (one of her later applications) and went on a tour and did an interview. She received a $26,500 grant and no merit scholarship. The grant is likely only to be one year as our older daughter will be a senior in college next year. This is one of her favorites… big decisions coming soon!

Accepted! 3.53 GPA, 1490 SAT, 34 ACT. From Bay Area.

Waitlisted  Honestly really surprised, I thought I had a very good chance of getting in.
Applied for Engineering/IR dual program
4.09 (4.18 w senior grades)/1480 SAT
Good essays and counselor recs (at least I think so), 3 sports, Internship over the summer, Job Shadowing
Other ones I got into (for engineering) were Virginia Tech, Purdue, Minnesota, Northeastern, waitlisted at UVA

@ktbspa1993 Mail made it to the Bay Area??? Surprised to hear anything from people on the west coast today. My DD is still waiting for the mail in Oregon.

Yes, I was surprised to receive it so early too…

Waitlisted

31 ACT
4.2 GPA
Very strong extracurriculars
Strong letters of rec
Showed a TON of interest: campus visit, interview, met w Counselor @ school

Not too sure what went wrong, but accepted at University of Richmond which is arguably better than Lafayette. College admissions just doesn’t seem to make any sense. Best of luck to everyone.

Has anyone else outside of NE heard anything?

Received acceptance package in Denver this afternoon.

We got it this morning way out in Northern California! With air-mail it’s really more about how many hops than total distance. I was sure we wouldn’t see it until Tuesday.

@FamilyfromLI you answered one of my posts about American, now I see you at the Lafayette forum! My daughter (1520 SAT; 3.95 UW GPA) was accepted at both and likely to choose one of these schools.

What are your son’s top choices? My daughter will have a tough decision because American is a better overall fit (DC, international relations), but Lafayette will be significantly less expensive. She received $18K Presidential scholarship at AU and Marquis Fellowship at Lafayette (while being rejected at all other “elite” schools so far).

Waitlisted.
Ouch. This was one of my top choices, so seeing the small envelope stung just a little bit.

Stats: Female going for engineering. 4.0 UW GPA, 8 honors/AP classes, 29 on ACT, tons of great extracurriculars related to engineering and leadership, and great personal recommendation letters. Im also from a small town in Oregon.
I thought I had a somewhat-decent chance considering the very low percentage of females in Lafayette’s engineering program. Oh well. Congratulations to everyone who was accepted!! The admissions committee chooses the best fit, so don’t feel bad if you weren’t accepted!

@schmuddy we’re about 15 min south of the first stop (South San Francisco) for airmail to the Bay Area. I think you can be way closer to Easton and it can take longer if it has to go through several post offices first.

hi! i was accepted and received the Marquis Fellows award, but no financial aid, which makes the tuition difficult for my family to pay for with only one salary :frowning: it’s too bad because i really liked the school

received an acceptance envelope for electrical engineering tonight in nyc. not the best student, but 35 act, 790 on chem and math2, about 200 hours of community service, led a club for a few years, and track team for 4 years
