My son has been hearing that due to the small size of the school, and lack of "college town" there is nothing to do on weekends other than drinking / drugs. I know drinking is part of any campus culture - but is it more so at Lafayette due to its small size? If not, what are other options? What about drinking during the week? If you know about other schools, how would you compare the "drinking/party atmosphere" at Lafayette with Lehigh? Trinity? Bucknell? Union?

Thanks.

I don’t drink during the semester and I don’t find myself bored during the weekends. I don’t think a lot of people drink and that it’s a necessity if you don’t want to get bored.

Also, you should keep in mind that drinking only seems prevalent at colleges because those who drink excessively draw attention to themselves. Since heavy drinkers attract alot of attention as opposed to those who don’t drink, it creates the illusion that most college students drink—which is not true.

Taylor

it is kinda boring if you dont drink because there isnt much to do. but doesnt mean you get wasted every weekend either :)

There are some students who create a bubble around themselves and who give the perception that if one is not drinking college is boring. As said before this is very far from the truth.

The truth is there are many kids at college who don’t drink period, who drink moderately, who drink responsibly and then recklessly.

I don’t drink period, and I don’t find myself bored during weekends because there is always something to do whether hang out in Easton or one of the big cities nearby.

Lafayette is like all other colleges: there is a drinking and non-drinking populace. Both seem to enjoy the college life!

Happy hunting!
