Lafayette Early Decision 2013 2014

It’s probably low, loveticco, if you do not contact your admissions officer and let him or her know of your continued interest in Lafayette, the reasons you want to attend, and what you can bring to the community. His or her name can be found online, as can an email address.

captainclueless, I doubt that that is the case for the new Fellowship since there are a limited number of those awards, unlike the Scholarship which goes to the top 15% of the admitted. Would you pls check on this with your sources? Thanks.

Has anyone received Marquis Fellowship? captainclueless only mentione the Scholar one, jkeil911.
According to the website, we will know the candidates for Fellowship by February along with some lucky RD applicants (if you’re chosen for fellowship you already know that you’re 100% admitted. Lucky means receiving decision early)
Then the result will be sent to us by March, along with admission decision for the mentioned RD applicants, which is just a matter of formality. :D

I’m now a member of Lafayette community, Class of 2018 !!! Can’t wait to see you on campus :D

With regards to the Marquis Fellowship, I am uncertain about when the finalists are selected. The Marquis Scholarship has been around for a while, but the Fellowship is brand new this year so I am not sure exactly how it is going to work. I will ask the admissions directors and get back to you on this matter.

Here is the response I received from the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid himself:

“Marquis Fellowships are awarded after 2 on campus assessment processes, by
invitation only. Invitations to those events will be sent in early February.”

So there’s your answer :)

Hello captainclueless,
I am an international student from Nepal.I have got a good amount of aid in ED .However I think the aid is narrowly inadequate for me.How can I send you the details about financial aid and expenses the college has offered?I need to be sure about the loans and the family contribution. Please reply me

You can take a picture of it using Paint, johnnash2, then post it on your Facebook and copy the link here. Full information about financial aid award is presented in a table form, isn’t it? Can you post it here for me too? My financial award only includes the Marquis Scholars, loan and campus work - no need-based award. I wonder if yours is the same.

johnnash 2,

I am not an expert on financial aid, so I advise you to contact Lafayette’s Office of Financial Aid.

Hey captainclueless,
I have sent a message on Lafayette College Prospectives Page and have attached the details of the aid I have got.I have already sent a message to the financial department but just to make things faster I have sent it to you. Please look at the message I think you’ll do some help to me.Also if I need some more aid than the one offered to me.Is it good to ask for it?Will it really increase my aid and make my enrollment more favourable?

Hello ursawarrior,
Actually the table of the financial aid and the message I received doesn’t include any information about marquis scholarship.I have also been offered loans and on campus work. However I still need to pay $6400/yr.My family can only pay $4000/yr and I am afraid of the loans I need to pay.So I want little more aid.

captainclueless, i attempted to send you a private message. please let me know if you do not receive it. thanks.

norcaldreamer,

I did not receive a message from you. I suggest you try again or send a message via the Prospectives page.

Taylor

We’re in Massachusetts, and still no Lafayette letter. Others in New England – have you heard yet???

i think it went as e-mail.

According to the Financial aid brochure, Lafayette meets full demonstrated need and families with an annual income of less than $50,000 do not have to take loan. You should definitely ask for more aid.

ursawarrior, does that apply to international students, however?

ursawarrior,
Have you already got notifications about the Marquis Scholars program. What were your SAT scores and gpa?I think I was also eligible although I don’t have best scores. Is your demonstrated need fulfilled?I think you are paying more than 10k.

Yes I have Marquis Scholars notification. You should contact the Office of Admissions if you’re unsure, johnnash2. We are admitted after all
Currently my financial award is at $29,000 at most. I stated in the CSS Profile that my family could contribute $15,000. So my need is yet to be met. I’ll ask for more aid in the next 5 hours, and notify you of the result.

Btw I have 2200 SAT and 800 SAT Math II + 790 SAT Physics. My GPA is 9.5/10, but I think it’s not taken into account since each country has different GPA formats.

It’s been 2 days I haven’t received any email from the Financial Department.ursawarrior Are you from US?
