Lafayette RD 2022

Hey guys! I thought that we could start a new thing about the Regular Decision group! Does anyone know when we hear back?

pretty sure by april 1st

I applied RD too! So nervous!

Lafayette is my top choice and I’m starting to get really nervous! Chance me please!!! http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/lafayette-college/2048378-chance-me-lafayette-college.html

Hey guys. Did anyone get a notification for the Marquis?

@gigichuck , nothing here for my daughter yet, but I did see on Facebook that some students got a FedEx package today about the scholarship day.

@pcmom1 okay thanks

@pcmom1 people you know on fb?

@mom2cats , yes. Parents posted that their kids got FedEx packages from Lafayette yesterday inviting them to come to campus to interview for the fellowship/scholarships. It is not a Lafayette related FB page. Just a parents page I belong to.

Hi just throwing my name in here, love the school, but I’ll need some merit aid to go. If i didn’t get the package does that mean I’m out of the running?
I have a 1510 SAT
And a 4.3 GPA is that competitive?

@Derek17 no notification now doesn’t mean you are out of the running-as they say on the website most marquis scholars find out with acceptance- do not go to campus for assessment. My D was not notified either and she has a 1510, UWGPA 4.0 ( applied for engineering- first choice school also!) she is starting to get really nervous (& so am I). Hope you both get good news at the end of March!

FYI when my S16 received his marquis scholarship two years ago it was with acceptance in mid to late March. A very nice surprise. He had 4.5 W / 3.8 gpa (several bs in Ap classes). 10 Ap classes. 32 act (33 superstore). A couple of Sat 2 scores of 720 and 730. And pretty average ECs. A varsity sport, band and work as a summer camp counselor. So nothing crazy. He is a very happy sophomore at laf who recently switched out of mech eng and into history with math minor. Boy is he happy he is not at a school where that switch will add any time to the degree or at a tech school with weak humanities.

Hello! I just read that Lafayette is need-aware… My EFC is around 3k. SO if you subtract the total tuition(66,890) by my EFC, my total need =63,000ish…

Will I be rejected because I can’t pay for anything? I applied to this school because they meet 100% need based aid, however I am getting scared because I love this school…

It’s really hard to say. At competitive schools, you can be rejected for all sorts of reasons… need being one of them. Fwiw, our EFC is 12k and so our need is pretty substantial at any private school too. My middle kid got into a need aware school last month early action. He got merit and enough aid to meet our Efc (which is a bonus as they aren’t a full need school.) Our eldest goes to a full need, need blind school but she got into some need aware schools with enough aid too. If a school really wants you, they’ll make it happen.

Best of luck to you. All we can do is hope for the best!

Does anyone have any idea when we should be hearing back?

From past experience, domestic applicants will hear by only snail mail during the last week of March. If you are an international applicant, you will hear by email. However, these email notifications will be delayed several days from the date that the snail mail notifications are sent out so that all applicants will hear about the same time. Lafayette always notifies its applicants the week before ivy day notifications.

Lafayette is currently need aware in its admissions. However there are substantial efforts underway to make the school need blind in its admissions. A 400 million dollar campaign is coming to a close, and substantial resources will be devoted to financial and merit aid. If Lafayette truly wants you, they will make every effort to see you on College Hill this September.

Finally, applicant numbers are at record levels. Lafayette has received over 9,100 applicants for the Class of 2022. They are looking for a class size of between 630-650. Thus expect the acceptance rate to be between 25-27%.

I know that this is an anxious time for many. There is nothing to do but wait. Best of luck to all.

I’m starting to get super nervous. Can anyone change me? 32 ACT, 3.9 GPA. Good personal essay about my concussion that left me homeschooled for half of sophomore year (shows why those grades aren’t as good) and how I turned that negative into a positive and am now doing a capstone research project on mental health after concussions. Lots of ECs including work experience, dance, NHS, volunteering, etc. I had an interview which went really well I thought. I’m nervous that my gpa might hurt me!!

I applied RD to Lafayette as well. I’m not sure if Marquis is based strictly off of GPA/SAT scores or if they take extracurriculars into account. The scholarship is the only way that Lafayette would be affordable for me, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck everyone! Hopefully, we’ll hear soon!

Did anyone get an email from Lafayette to join their class of 2022 (187) FB page? omg I’m freaking out! They give you the link to it!

Update: the email says:
As an applicant, you too see how we fit into your story, but you now must decide if that story will be shaped by a Cur Non approach?

“now you must decide” !!!

I hope this is not too good to be true :((

@greeneandh I just did right now!
