I've heard back from all of my colleges, and I think I've got it down to four for sure- Lafayette College, Boston College, Providence College (full scholarship), and Holy Cross. Anyway, now I kind of need help. Does anyone who goes to Lafayette or who has had experience with the school want to offer some advice? ie- What sets Lafayette apart, advantages of Marquis scholarship, social scene, professors?

Tromboneplayer91,

Doesn’t your older brother go to Lafayette? I think he’d be the one to ask, no?

Time out, you got your Holy Cross decision?

and p.s. we’re sort of like twins. I got into LAfayette, BC, PC and am waiting on Holy Cross amungst others.

yeah i got my holy cross decision yesterday- i live relatively close

yes my brother goes to lafayette but he is notoriously untalkative. plus he tends not to take advantage of opportunities offered to him so i just wanted a more involved perspective. he wants me to go just so he has an excuse to come back and visit. also, he hates BC for some reason (he didn’t apply there so its not because he was rejected), and he doesn’t think highly of holy cross at all (also for no good reason), so he’s got a pretty strong bias going.

Did you get offered a Marquis Scholarship? That’s a lot of money, to begin with. But a full ride to PC is nothing to sneer at, either.

I am a Lafayette alum, and my son is a sophomore at Lafayette. He also got into PC, looked but didn’t apply to Holy Cross (didn’t like the campus on the side of the hill), and didn’t look at BC (wanted a small school).

FWIW, my son is very happy at Lafayette and can’t imagine himself anywhere else, although when he was applying it didn’t seem nearly that obvious to him. But as for you, I’d say you have 4 excellent choices.

Good luck and Congratulations!
