Lagunita Court

I will probably be attending a summer program on campus this summer where you basically take classes during the entire summer quarter. I'm very excited to have the opportunity to see the school and will be staying at Lagunita Court.

I have a few questions:

What is this dorm like? Is it a nice dorm? Does it have air conditioning? Large Rooms? How does it rank among the dorms on campus?

Should i definitely rent a bicycle or will i be fine walking from place to place?

What's the food like on campus? What are my options? Is it expensive?

And what places are great to go to off campus for 17 year olds?

And finally, how many undergrads would you guess are on campus during the summer quarter?

Anybody who could help answer any of these questions would be a real help, thanks!

I've never stayed on campus over the summer, but I can tell you that Lag is very pretty on the outside, alright on the inside, and mostly has average sized doubles.

Stanford has pretty good food in its dining halls (by dining hall, standards, of course).

A leisurely walk from Lag to the main quad probably takes about 10 minutes, while on bike it probably takes about 2-3, so you can plan on renting a bike or not based on that. If you plan on getting off of campus much (mostly good for restaurants, access to CalTrain, and change of scenery), then I would definitely advise getting a bike.

Don't worry about renting a bike. I was a counselor for a different camp last summer where the students weren't allowed to have bikes. They did fine, and I mostly didn't use my bike either unless I was late for something or going off campus. I didn't mind walking, and I'm even used to biking everywhere.
