There is a new LAH Class of 2014 facebook group if you want to "talk" to fellow LAHers before orientation. (There are nice LAH sessions at orientation.) The group name is "Liberal Arts Honors (LAH) Class of 2014"

Having trouble finding this group on Facebook. Can you provide more info?

Bump because I’m interested too.

:*( I wasn’t able to make the deadline. Sigh. Maybe I’ll find an honors program during the year.

Here you guy guys:

[Liberal Arts Honors (LAH) Class of 2014! | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

Also, if you haven’t seen, there’s a growing Facebook group for the c/o 2014:

[The University of Texas Class of 2014! | Facebook](<a href=“Facebook Public Group | Facebook”>Facebook Public Group | Facebook)

I don’t think you can find an honors program during the year, except to transfer into BHP as a sophomore (very, very competitive).

There are departmental honors in pretty much any major at UT for upper-division coursework, and this is an option I’d suggest you look at.

This group doesn’t pop up on a FB search given the keywords, just FYI.

The reason, apparently, is that it is only open to those on the Texas Network.

Any incoming Freshman searching for it will not find it, from what I can see.

i can’t join it because i’m not in the texas network ): i will beee in LAH Class of 2014 thoughh

Incoming freshmen become part of the Texas network as soon as they get their UT email addresses. I think that you just need to make your email address. Maybe you can’t do that until you get the higher security UT EID; I am not sure. Try it.

Go to https://mail.utexas.edu/ You can pick the first part of your email address. A common format is bart.simpson@mail.utexas.edu but I have also seen, for example, bsimpson@mail.utexas.edu and nicknames. (Professors may use this address so be “collegiate” in your choice.) :)

MidwestMom, thanks for that link. My son didn’t know about getting a UT e-mail address, so I told him.

theres no point in getting it now if i’m waiting on waitlisted schools, is there?

also does anyone recall how long it took for your housing contract to come in after you paid your deposit? mine hasent come in yet and i REALLY hope honors housing isnt full ):

@MidwestMom: Son did get his UT email address several weeks ago, but I assumed he would not want to tie his FB account to it yet. Perhaps I’m wrong that it would be necessary…? Not sure how they would otherwise be sure he was on the network via FB… He has been out at a group study session for AP Lit, so I’ll have to ask him later when he is less stressed out. Somehow I thought Senior Project would be a good thing, but it seems to just be another stressor at this point. Maybe next week will be better for him.
