Language and Math placement scores online

Checking through VIP today, son ran across his language and math placement scores. Must have just been recently posted. He took the tests in April and had been really concerned about the listening portion of the French - thought he'd not done well and was figuring how to squeeze a language class into a packed engingeering curriculum. What a relief to find that he scored enough to exempt his language classes. I know that in the earlier post/replies about the placement tests, many of you expressed how S's or D's were also concerned about the language test -- so take heart!!! I'm sure we'll be hearing good news from all of you soon about acing the language test!

since S was OOS,he took his placement Math test day before Orientation (he was exempt from the language). They scored it overnight and it was ready for his advisement time.

S took three years of Latin (beginning in 8th grade), which fulfilled his language requirement for HS (advanced Regents diploma). His pushy parents made him take Spanish the last two years, thinking it was practical for someone with a purported interest in International Business. Since he stopped Latin before the AP level, and only has the two years of Spanish, I am assuming that he might have to continue a language--? I'm being lazy on this one; I'll bet I can find the answer by checking through the SC website. Anyway, it still seems very practical to have a second language, given S's potential major. If not Spanish, then perhaps Chinese or Japanese...

Mom4Life,
I'm not sure about the various majors, but engineering requires students to demonstrate a proficiency in understanding literature and the spoken language. The placement test scores are 1,2,3 etc. Son's curriculum sheet says "A score of 2 or higher demonstrates proficiency" or "student may take 109/110 In German, Latin, Spanish or French, or by taking 121 in one of the other languages offered."
