Let’s say that an individual self-studied a language (i.e. Russian) and there is no standardized test (AP or SAT II) for it. How would this individual be able to demonstrate to colleges its fluency?
Is there another way to prove your fluency, i.e. through some competition or award you could somehow win? I’ve been told there is a place to put any other languages you know, presumably along with things other than languages.
For the application, proof is not needed. If you are looking to place out of a college foreign language requirement, and your intended college does not offer the language in question, contact the foreign language department at a local college that does offer the language.
You don’t have to “prove” everything on your transcript. Just put in that you are fluent in Russian.
