Language Housing

Hi there. I was accepted ED to W&M and I know that I'd like to at least major in French/Francophone studies (and maybe double it with Chemistry. We'll see.)

What I'm not exactly clear on is if Language Housing in Randolph is open to freshmen. I've looked around the W&M website on residencies, have seen the application procress, etc, but the anything about elgibility based on class has eluded me.

If anyone knows, that would be great.

Unfortunately not; language houses (and all special interest houses) are sophomores and up only. All freshmen live in one of the freshmen dorms. Monroe and Sharpe Scholars have their Freshman dorm guaranteed (Monroe and Spotswood in Botetout, respectively), although Monroe Scholars do not have to live there.

[William & Mary - Freshman Halls](Freshman Halls | William & Mary)

yea… freshmen live in freshmen dorms. It’s a really good experience to be surrounded by people who are all new to W&M, because you bond and make friends really quickly. You will have the opportunity to live in the French house your other 3 years, if you should want to.

I second and third Heretohelp and soccerguy. During second semester freshman year, you can apply to live in the French House (and you can apply in following years if you decide to live there again). As a freshman, you will complete housing and roommate questionairres over the summer and be assigned housing and a roommate based upon the results of those surveys.
