Language Immersion Programs

Can anyone speak from experience of any summer language immersion programs they attended, what it was like, the language you studied, and how effective it was?

Your question about summer language immersion programs caught my eye. Middlebury College (where I work) has just launched the Middlebury-Monterey Language Academy, a summer language immersion camp for middle and high school students. The website is http://www.mmla.middlebury.edu/
Hope this is helpful!

Interesting that the Middlebury summer program isn't actually at Middlebury, but rather at St. Michael's College near Burlington.

Wow Virginia, that looks pretty awesome. Thanks for the info. :)

If you are studying Spanish, I would highly recommend the Nicaragua Summer Exchange program. It lasts one month. You stay with a host family, take classes in the morning, explore the city of Granada and the surrounding area, and volunteer at poor local high schools or children's centers. The price is also very reasonable- about $3000 including plane tickets. The website is http://highschoolspanish.org/

My daughter had a fabulous experience with this program.

How much did she learn if you don't mind me asking?

Her Spanish is definitely much better, and she is now very comfortable with speaking. People in her Spanish class at school notice how "fluent" she sounds. She's also much more comfortable with quickly conjugating verbs in conversation.
