Language Placement Exams - Engineering Student

My S is attending TAMU in the fall as an Engineering student. He has taken 2 years of a foreign language in high school (not AP). Will he need to take a foreign language for engineering at TAMU? Does he need to take this Language Placement Exam. We looked at this degree program and we don't see a foreign language for his first year. He doesn't want to take the Language Placement Exam unless he needs to.

I think he only needs to take the Language Placement Exam if he wants to continue taking a language. The engineering curriculum does not require language, so it would be up to him if he wanted to continue learning the language.

See #14. If your S took 2 years of the same foreign language in HS he is done with regards to meeting engineering requirements.

Thanks for the information.
