Language placement exams

Hey everyone!

I'm currently a third year at UCLA who bombed the AP french test in year 11 and have yet to satisfy the language requirement for UCLA and I'm totally confused at what to do. I'm under the college of letters and sciences (music history student) and realized I need to take the placement exam but I'm not to sure how to go about doing it.

I've been studying french but decided that I could also do spanish as I am a native speaker which would help me out. How does one go about taking the French or Spanish placement exams and what do they consist of test-wise? (are there large essays or speaking or is it all multiple choice?) I try to google these things but just keep getting outdated results :(

Thanks guys!

For the French placement exam, the test was comprised of about 90-ish multiple choice questions regarding grammar/conjugation, two listening sections, and three reading comprehension sections, also with multiple choice questions.

I took the test during my orientation session (first-year here), so I’d think you’d have to contact the language department directly to take the placement test.

I, too, would like to know the breakdown of the content on the Spanish placement exam.

thanks hyacinthia, I think I will have to do that. I wasn’t able to take the exam during my freshman orientation as it coincided with my music theory exam :(
