Language Placement test

I'm thinking about taking the korean test because... well its like english to me, basically... or english is like korean to me.. whatever.

Anyways, if i don't attend the orientation, is there other time that i would be able to take the placement test?

And even if i take the test, can i still take another language class...? I'm thinking about taking Japanese... However, i don't really want a language class getting in my way and messing up my GPA (i just want to take it for fun, mostly...)

Yes, if you don't attend orientation you can still take the test at anytime.

As for taking another class, it all depends on where in your schedule you have room...

If you've already satisfied the req by passing the placement exam you can just take another language as an elective.

And as long as it's not a major or GE requirement, you can take a class graded pass/no pass. That way you just need a C- or higher to get the credits and it has no effect on your gpa.

jbusc- thanks, that's what i really needed to hear! ^_^ Thank you

Does USC only have popular language tests? I am from a small country, Myanmar, and would like to know if I could take Burmese (language used in Myanmar). Does anyone know where I could call to see if they can arrange something for me?
Thanks in advance.

You might start by contacting this department--if they can't help you, maybe they can refer you to someone who can. Good luck!

OH yeah sorry to bring this up, but does anybody know how hard the tests are? Is it like SAT language tests because those are soooo easy...

All engineering majors (except computer) are exempt from having to take a foreign language at USC.

^ I'm studio art major (possibly going to change to animation major) and both of them require a foreign language.
