Has anyone taken the Spanish Language Placement Test? About how long does it take to complete? Is it timed?

Check this site on UNC’s website for the info you requested. Personally, I’d wait and take the placement test once you’ve completed your highest language course in high school and/or reviewed.

there is a nice video tutorial to show you about the test - I think you can even re-do it if necessary.

[Language Placement Test](http://www.unc.edu/languageplacement/index.php).

Yes, I had already been to this site and watched the videos beforehand. I didn’t see anything that told me how long the test was.

The test length is variable since the test is “adaptive” - the more you know the longer the test. My “D” took it last year for Spanish and had taken AP Spanish. Her test lasted ~20minutes.

I just took the Spanish placement test… it took me about ten minutes. There were a couple paragraph-long selections, but it was generally pretty quick and straightforward. I didn’t know about half the answers, and although I’ve only taken Spanishes 1 and 2, I have been placed into Spanish 203. the description of the course says, “First-year students have typically had 3-4 years of previous study of the language,” so I am a little worried…

when do you take the test? and what do you do?

You’re supposed to take it at least 1 month before CTOPs. The web site has videos that show how to get started.
