Can you enroll in a class other than what the results of your test suggests? I might want to enroll in a lower level class if I somehow do really well on the test. How flexible is this process?

From my experience, you can only debate going higher in difficulty. I did really poorly on my placement exam and was placed into FRE101, but I really didn’t want to start at this level because of my high school french background. I just did badly on the test because I hadn’t taken French in over a year. So, I asked them to put me in 103 (the 101/102 sequence squeezed into 1 semester), and they did.

But, this doesn’t work the other way around. If you place into, say, a 105 level course, you can’t ask to be put in the 103 course. You could purposefully score low on the placement test and get put into a lower level class, but to be quite honest, this is a toolish move, in my opinion.
