I think I could pass out of a year at least. Do you get actual credits for it or not?

Yes, you do receive credit. I’m not sure which language you are interested in, but here is the info fro the Spanish department:

[Undergraduate Studies: Department of Spanish and Portuguese](http://www.indiana.edu/~spanport/undergraduate/placement.shtml#1)

S105 = 4 credits. S200 and S250 each = 3 credits. So, if you do well enough, you automatically get 4 credits. If you are like my S and place into S280 (used to be S275?), and you get a C- or better, you will also received special credit for S200 and S250. That’s another 6 credits.

Well worth the effort!

You will get credits for testing out of semesters. I tested into S250 and 4 credits for S105 were immediately added to my record. Keep in touch with your adviser as the year goes on so that any credits you receive during orientation are put on your file properly.

If you also test into S250, they may say you will have the option to do an online program for S200 credit and some other credit. Grill your adviser about this because my orientation adviser told me about it, but my real adviser never knew a thing. You deserve credits for what you know!
