I'm currently in AP Spanish IV and I want to minor in Spanish. At the U, you have to take the LPE as a placement test. How easy/difficult is it? I am very adept at Spanish, so which Spanish course do you suppose I will be placed in?

njpatane…D1 never took AP Spanish, but she always had a knack for the language and scored well on the placement test last year (don’t recall her score in particular though). She was placed into 2nd semester, 2nd year Spanish (basically skipped 3 semesters of Spanish). She struggled a little at the beginning, more with the grammar and structure she didn’t get as opposed to vocabulary, but did very well in the class once she “caught up”. The professor said not many freshman place that far ahead, but if you’ve done well in AP Spanish I’d guess you’re in a good position to place at least where she did. Once she completed the “Spanish 4” class she received a Spanish Proficiency milestone annotation on her transcript. There would obviously be quite a bit more required to earn the Spanish minor, but I hope that gives you a little bit of an idea of where you’d start out. Good Luck!!

Thank you Wolverine86! Do you recall what the course title was that she was placed into?

njpatane…Spanish 1004 was the course she was placed into. Good Luck at the U!!
