Language Placement

I was wondering what kind of language requirements I could get out of. I speak fluent Mandarin, but can't read and write all that well. I did get a 740 on the SAT II Chinese. I also took three years of French, but I could never pass a French placement exam. I absolutely suck!

Take both and see what happens man. They will have French at orientation, but I'm not sure if they'll have Mandarin, but you can always take that test right when the school year starts. Either way, you're going to pass out of SOMETHING in both of them, so see what you can get.

When do we take these tests?

orientation

I think the French test is during orientation, but I think you have to wait until Sept. 4 for the Chinese test. I'm not positive on the date. I called them about taking a Japanese test and they said for languages other than Spanish, German, and French they wanted to schedule a personal interview to see how fluent you are.

That is correct kmatzen. My roommate had to take his Korean language exam the first week of school.
