Hello, I'm going to be attending Vanderbilt next year (go class of 2010!). Although I'm good in some subjects, I am terrible at foreign language. I stopped spanish a few years ago as my school's foreign language requirement isn't very demanding. What is the requirement at Vanderbilt? If I start at beginner (or whatever the first level of language is) of spanish, how many semesters will I have to struggle through foreign language? Is there any way to take classes in english about foreign cultures to satisfy the requirement? Are these courses considered hard? Thanks in advance.

i don't think you have to take language courses. you can take other culture or history class to fulfill your ALEX requirement. it requires 3 courses for International Cultures (INT).

Good luck w/ it.

i am thinking about taking beginner Spanish class too. =D cuz i have never taken Spanish before. but i really want to learn that.

Take engineering so you don't have to deal with AXLE. Haha.

A good program in the school of engineering is Engineering Science. That basically allows you to take basic engineering courses while pursuing an A&S major without having to deal with AXLE. (I'm not doing this, but my roomate is...)

vandy has latin, right?

Yeah, I believe it does.

Yes, Latin is in the Classical Studies Department. You can find it in the online Course Catalog:
