Language School Recs for transfer

Hi :smiley:

I am going to the Japanese School this summer. I’ve applied to the undergraduate college twice now.

I am not sure if I am close or not, but I would like to think I can make something of this summer regarding getting admitted.

Has anyone else used language school recs to help with transfer admission? I certainly am in love with everything Middlebury.

I am sure I’ll do well over the summer! I am excited.

Thank you

@ApriltheCat

It’s not the most normal route, for sure, as many of the Language School Faculty are not from Middlebury (some are, but most won’t be.)

The best thing to do is to go and enjoy Japanese School (your head will hurt) and have a great summer in VT. If you still want to transfer in (as a Junior?) then find out which of the Japanese School faculty are also College Faculty and ask them; also (after the language pledge has expired) go talk to Admissions with your own grades from elsewhere and your Japanese School grades.

Best of luck!

Thank you! Without going into too much detail (and before we start the pledge), do you think admissions will be receptive to a visit re:grades and admission? I’ll do anything to get admitted; but I want to earn it the way they make everyone else! I don’t want them to feel I am, to put it bluntly, fishing for the “how do I get admitted” freebie.

I love being here. We are in Hepburn and it’s amazing. Walking down the hill from Mead was an experience. And Japanese conversations too! I spoke more today even before the pledge than I typically get to in class.

Thank you!

Ah, Hepburn… :slight_smile:
Go talk to Admissions and lay your cards on the table and make it super clear how much you want this.
Good luck, and enjoy your summer!
