Language v. Language with Listening

I've been wondering about this for a while; do colleges look down upon taking a language SAT II with just the reading? Do they prefer the test with listening, or do they not care? I plan on taking one of the Spanish SAT IIs, and am leaning towards the one without listening. Assuming I can get 700+ (non-native speaker), would this be seen as a "good" score?

If Spanish with Listening is anything like French with Listening, I’d strongly advise against the test with listening, since you’re a non-native speaker. The listening portions are often played only once, with some questions that have a 1/2 guessing penalty. It’s a pain in the ass to try to score well when the listening part will probably screw you over (more or less–probably more).

I would think a high score on reading only would look better than a low score on reading+listening. That’s just me though.

Play to your strengths. There are plenty of people who are better at listening to natives converse than reading a passage in the required language, and there are people who are the opposite. If you generally find yourself stronger in listening, go with the listening test.
