any current students know the benefit or disadvantages of continuing a language (would be my 5th year taking Latin) or starting a new one (Spanish or Italian, idk yet). Is workload about the same?

If you guys could just give me some insight that'd help

Thanks

is language a requirement for all students? or just A&S?

I know its a requirement for Arts and science students, check your college’s core curriculum to see if you need it. The below information is realted to A&S students

The disadvantage of starting a new one is that you have to take an extra 2 courses which wont count towards the 2 language courses required.

If your like me and you want to just get over the language courses and never see them again, you should continue the language you studied in high school, leaving you with only 2 courses more classes to take. If you start a new one, you will have to take at least 4 to complete your language requirement

Anyone know if I can fail the spanish placement test horribly and NOT be placed in a begginners course in that language? **
I’ve taken Spanish for 3 years, yet I learned nothing…Only what I needed to get by that class <_<

I’m in AP Spanish right now and have taken spanish since elementary school and just tested into the lowest category on the Nova spanish placement test. How lame am I? I wonder if they’ll put me into intermediate spanish?

Most high school Spanish classes are jokes…

I guess I’ll see you next year in intermediate spanish then shouldacoulda.
Haven’t taken the test yet but I know my schools language department sucks.

My Novasis account says I’m in Intermediate French II – shouldn’t it be Intermediate French I? Would they really put freshman at this level?

When my D was a freshman, she was put in Intermediate French II and only had to take it for one year. If you want French I, I think you have to take it for two years. She thought it was unfair because all of her business major friends did not have to take a language. (unless they chose international business as their major)
