<p>Does Columbia highly recommend 4 years of foreign language because I was planning on dropping Chinese 4 to take either journalism or yearbook?</p>

<p>well let me rephrase the question. would columbia frown upon me taking journalism/yearbook instead of a fourth year of language even though they recommend 4 years.</p>

<p>There is no hard and fast rule. When looking at your entire transcript, they want to see that your courses are consistent with your interests and passions.</p>

<p>But keep in mind that they expect you to take the most rigorous courses that your school can offer.</p>
