Languages at RU

Can an AP exam be used to fulfill the language requirement of Rutgers honors, or is doing well on the placement test the only want to be exempt?

Placement tests.

It’s not that difficult if you took 3-4 years of that specific language in high school. I sucked at Spanish and got placed into Intermediate 132, the highest before literature classes.

That’s weird, Mushaboom, because I took a good three years up to Honors Spanish 4. (I didn’t take it my senior year because it conflicted with AP Chem.) I would say that my honors spanish class was pretty intense, but I only placed into the first Intermediate Spanish class. 131.

Hmm. Must be me then. Yet again, I had been taking Spanish courses since 6th grade and at the time when I took the test, I was in an intense Spanish class.

Maybe there is a curve because my son who took through Spanish Honors 4 placed out of the intermediate classes and into the literature classes. He was told for Honors he needs one of these literature classes and that would also satisfy a humanities or possiibly diversity, so he is pleased.

Now if you do pass the AP Test (with a 4 or 5) that will satisfy the Honors requirement as a 200 level Spanish class.
