I am Indian and my parents speak several different languages from different parts of India. I put down English as my first language and a second language that I can speak and is spoken at home. I am iffy about another two though. There are another two languages that my parents speak at home and I understand, but I don’t speak. My parents can talk in those two languages to me and I will understand it but I will answer back in English or the second language. Should I put those third and fourth languages as “spoken at home” or just leave them off? I wasn’t sure if spoken at home means I speak it at home or if its just spoken in my household. Also, if I click on first language, do I still have to choose all of the other ones like speak, read, etc? I know these are minor details but I don’t want to unintentionally lie or mess something up.
I would list them as “spoken at home”. I assume “speak” means that you speak the language, while spoken at home means that your parents speak it. Either way, no admissions officer is going to verify this information or accuse you of lying if you list these languages. In fact, it’s a good idea to list these languages as it will give admissions officers a more complete view of your life and where you come from.
Yes.
