So I know this might be a little premature considering I haven't even taken the SAT yet, but the more I read about the school the more in love I fall. I'm trying not to get too excited considering I really don't want to be crushed if I don't get in but it's been pretty hard. Even though I haven't taken the SAT I have taken the PSAT so maybe that will help.

So let me start with my first question. I've heard that Dartmouth is pretty big on languages. I took French level 3 freshman year but then stopped. I know there is no way to really tell but is that frowned upon? I can't really change it now but it would be nice to know.

People might consider my ec's pretty weak - I don't have any awards (except probably national merit semi-finalist), I do yoga and I did dance for a little while. The only real thing I have is my art. I do usually about 5 hours every Saturday at a local high school art studio. 2 hours on a personal project and 2.5 on life drawing with with a 15-30 minute critique at the end. I also did a 6 week program at RISD this past summer. Which brings me to the summer advice. My art teacher really wants me to stay at the studio for the summer so I can bang out portfolio pieces, but I'm also looking at other summer programs like the program at Stanford for more academic areas. Once again, probably no way to know, but does something sound better than the other? I might also try to volunteer abroad. I'm open to advice.

This part might be worthless because I haven't even taken the SATs yet but just to put it out there. Maybe my track record so far might say enough.
PSAT: CR: 80 (projected 740-800), M: 76 (projected 710-780), WS: 69 (projected 620-730) Total: 225
GPA: so far this year 3.92 weighted - but I had a pretty disastrous freshman year 3.47 with a C+ in hon physics and mostly Bs... to put a good spin on it, it's on an upward climb ;)
APs: Euro (4), this year: Calc AB, Chem, next year: Stats, Psych, Studio Art 2D
We already know my ECs.
Oh and as soon as I turn 18 a plan to spend lots of time volunteering at animal shelters or something along that line, but it probably won't be enough to make a difference by the time the app is due.
To be frank, when I write all this down, I don't have high hopes. Be honest please, even if it might be harsh.
Thank you!
