I’m currently in 10th grade in a full IB school. For IB HL subjects I will choose Math, Physics and some other subject. For standard level subjects I think I will go for english, dutch and art. I was wondering if you need pick a language in the Air Force Academy. I am a native Dutch speaker so that’s why I chose Dutch, however, I know that if there is foreign language requirement, Dutch will probably not be included. Does anyone know if I am required to have done foreign language course in High School to be accepted into the Air Force Academy? Thanks!

"These suggested courses cover all four years of high school and will give you a very solid academic record. Remember, these are only our suggestions — you might need to modify them for your own situation. We give special consideration to students who earn excellent grades in honors and advanced placement classes.

-Four years of English including college preparatory courses in composition and speech
-Four years of math including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus and functional analysis if available
-Four years of laboratory sciences including biology, chemistry, physics, computers and additional courses in the sciences
-Three years of social sciences including history, economics, government and behavioral sciences
-Two years of a foreign language (note that all cadets at the Academy must take one of the following languages): Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish
-One year of computer science"

Different from the Naval Academy I guess. Too bad…

Thanks anyways!

Actually… I am currently doing French. Will I receive credit for doing French in 10th grade?

My thought that that meant that all cadets at the Academy have to take a language while they are there–not that that’s the list you are allowed to take in high school. I wouldn’t think that they cared.
