I am going to school to study computer science, and I need advice regarding laptops. I need a small laptop with good battery life to use for programming projects, notetaking, light internet surfing. I have a 17'' desktop replacement laptop at home, so I will not be using this one for multimedia or gaming. Originally I was looking at netbooks, but I am worried that they will not be powerful enough for programming.

*Essentially I am looking for the smallest computer that a CS major can use without running into performance issues. *

·10-14'' screen
·good battery life (at least 5 hours, but more is better!!)
·needs to be able to handle college-level programming
·I would like to stay under $1,000

I would greatly appreciate any help!
