Laptop: Performace or Mobility?

I'm a gamer.
DEDICATED gamer.
Without games, I would literally go insane.

So for college, I was looking for a gaming laptop with great specs. When I told this to my friend, he suggested that in college, my focus should be more into studying rather than gaming. He also added that I should get something like Mac Air for mobility etc. I mean, all laptops these days are capable of word processing and internet. What should be the problem?

So it call comes down to this. What do you look for when you're choosing a laptop? Performance in you're favorite hobby, or ease in transportation and Mobility?

I have one of each. Perhaps you would do well with a performance desktop in your dorm and a mobility laptop for everything else.

Not a mac air…

but for the price of a gaming laptop with great specs you could easily build a desktop with at least as good specs and a portable laptop to carry around.

also what exactly do you mean by a gaming laptop with “great specs”?
