laptop problem... please help :)

my laptop won't charge. it's new... like 2 weeks old. it's a fancy sony Vaio with all the fixin's, but it's randomly spazzing out.

usually, when i plug the AC adaptor into the wall, the green light on it will stay steady, even when the laptop isn't plugged into it. But now, it blinks every second or so. Then, when i plug the laptop in and turn the power on, the screen blinks telling me that the battery is dying... but the laptop recognizes the fact that the AC adaptor is plugged in (i know this because when i unplug it, my laptop makes the noise when something is unplugged).

Does anyone have any ideas?
Nothing bizarre has happened, so i find this really strange.

are you plugged into one of those outlets that are controlled by a switch? In my house several outlets come with with light switch-type control so you can plug in a lamp and turn it on and off with a wall switch. That might be it.

I dont think so. i'm at a friends house and it was working yesterday afternoon, and i left it plugged in for a while. and then after a few hours, i went back into the room and the battery was dying and the green light on the adaptor was blinking :(

maybe it will work again at my house... fingers crossed

anyone else have any ideas?
