Laptop purchase

Rockvillemom - Did you ever get your computer? We are about to order and am not sure if we should go through Elon based upon your bad experience. What do you think?

Still waiting! The Dell rep says it will be delivered tomorrow - but I still do not have the fedex tracking number. It has been a very aggravating experience. If I had it to do over - I would NOT order through Dell. Print out the list of recommended specifications from the Elon website - and go shopping.

It sounds like rockvillemom had a terrible experience, but our experience was great. The laptop arrived earlier than expected and seems fine.

Yes - I think I am the current record holder for problems with Dell. Delayed again - now delivery is set for July 30th. I spoke with the very nice and helpful people at the Elon technology help desk today - and they said that a few people have had delays - but most deliveries have been fine. I guess we are just the “lucky” ones!

The Dell people I have been dealing with have been very professional and seem equally perplexed by the problems - which are occurring abroad at the factory. Hopefully July 30th will be the day.

We have a fedex tracking number! Delivery tomorrow! Am I now jinxing it?

Woohoo! Good luck:)

I reluctantly ordered the Dell laptop on Wednesday - delivery date was scheduled for Friday. I was really, really afraid I’d have the same experience as Rockvillemom, because I’ve dealt with Dell before and they just aren’t that great. Anyway, we received an email Thursday that delivery would be delayed - I thought Oh No - now it begins. However, I answered my door yesterday and there it was on the porch. Very strange, but thankful I got it.

Rockvillemom - did you get your laptop? We live in the same general area - maybe I got yours?;)

laptop received yesterday! What an ordeal.

Has anyone who purchased a Dell laptop received the $200 e-gift card? We have not received anything yet.

So - the Dell misery continues. I wrote to the Dell reps I had been dealing with regarding the laptop to ask about the gift card. They provided a link - where I had to fill in info proving my son was a college student, provide the receipt, many steps - to get “verified” as being eligible for the program - and then they would send the gift card. This is absurd - given that we purchased the laptop online - through the Elon website - and paid for it online. I am done. They can shove their $200 gift card.

I was wondering about that gift card. We didn’t have any trouble with ordering or receiving the laptop, but it sounds like it’s kind of ridiculous what you have to go through to get the gift card! I don’t know if I have the energy. That’s probably what they are counting on.

We received the $299 gift card via email. We didn’t have to jump through any hoops. However, we ordered the laptop directly from Dell - not through Elon - maybe that had something to do with it.

That’s the good news, the bad news is there isn’t anything I want to purchase from Dell. They really don’t have much merchandise to choose from.
