Laptop question

My son has the Dell laptop from W&M. His dorm (Yates) is described as wireless. Should we still buy an ethernet cable to connect directly in his room, or is this unnecessary due to wireless capability?

It’s not necessary, but plugging in an ethernet cable usually gets you faster speeds. IIRC, some non-essential and high-bandwidth activities are blocked on wireless (like BitTorrent) that aren’t blocked when you’re connected using a cable.

thanks javabyte. Does this look like the correct cable:
[25Ft Cat5e Ethernet Cable](http://www.cables4sure.com/proddetail~prod~1-25disc.htm)

i think that cable is right… you just need a normal ethernet one.

Don’t need it, but I always bring one just in case. They’re cheap and you’ll never know if you’ll end up needing one at some point.
